Between Feb. 28 and March 14, The CAIC recorded information on 811 reported avalanches in Colorado. But that doesn’t deter skiers and snowboarders from being able to enjoy the recent snow on the high-alpine areas of the Continental Divide, with the help of Loveland’s ski patrol and the Ridge Cat machine. Once the avalanche mitigation work is done, the Ridge Cat operates on the North Ridge for the steep downhill powder skiers want from Colorado’s legendary, deep late-season snow.
