St. Anthony Summit celebrates National Nurse Anesthetist Week

This week, Jan. 19 to 25, is National Nurse Anesthetist Week and to celebrate, the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) at St. Anthony Summit Medical Center will host a health fair from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20 in the main lobby of the hospital, 340 Peak One Dr. in Frisco.

The free event, open to the public, will feature CRNAs available to check blood pressure, oxygen saturation levels and answer questions about anesthesia. The main presentation, “Summit County Vices and Anesthesia Implications” will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Education Classroom.

This presentation will include information about the effects of living at high altitude, as well as the anesthesia implications of smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol and being “fit” versus “fat.”

There will also be an information session about marijuana, covering the negative health effects of smoking marijuana and the challenges that anesthesia providers have with post-operative pain management in patients who are heavy marijuana smokers.
