Winners of Rotary Club’s poetry contest announced
The Rotary Club of Summit County and the Summit Daily News are proud to announce the winners of the 4th annual High School Poetry Contest. First place was won by Freya Schlaefer, a sophomore at Summit High School, for her poem “an open letter to those at the top.” Second place was awarded to Simone Babet, also a sophomore at Summit High School, for her poem, “Driftwood.” The third place award went to Jorie Benson, a sophomore at The Peak School, for her poem “Not Perfect Enough.” The cash awards were presented at the Rotary breakfast meeting at Nancy’s Place in Frisco on Tuesday, May 2. Two literacy contests are promoted by the Rotary Club and the Summit Daily each year: the poetry contest in the spring and the short story contest in the fall. The contests are open to all high school-aged students in the county.
