The top five things to do in Summit County on November 17

The Silverthorne Pavilion and Summit School District will host Celebrations Around the World on Thursday, Nov. 21. Celebrations Around the World is a one-day event at the Silverthorne Pavilion that highlights the various cultures that make up Summit County’s diverse community. Volunteers host booths that are visited by fourth-graders who learn about the clothing, currency, customs, food and other aspects of cultures from around the globe. This year’s event will include booths from Poland, China, Honduras, France and Mexico and entertainment from a Capoeira group. Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art that combines dance, acrobatics and music into a game-like performance between the dancers. The event will also feature dances from a local Mexican group. The public is invited to attend the event from 6 to 8 p.m. to visit the booths and sample food. Admission to the event is free. Call (970) 262-7396 or stop by the Silverthorne Recreation Center for more information.
