Powder hounds and “Sound of Music” fans can rejoice.

Epic Pass holders will have the opportunity to ski and ride for five free consecutive days in Arlberg, Austria, during the 2013-14 season, Vail Resorts announced yesterday.

“We always look to give our guests the experience of a lifetime when they visit our resorts,” Kate Lessman of Vail Resorts said. “Adding Arlbergh resorts is another way we can give our guests the best value in the industry.”

The addition of the St. Anton, Lech-Zurs, St. Christoph and Stuben resorts in Arlberg brings the total number of mountain resorts that can be accessed with the Epic Pass to 15.

The Epic Pass already includes unlimited riding at Breckenridge, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, Vail, Beaver Creek and Eldora in Colorado, and Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood in Lake Tahoe.

“If you wanted to take a great European ski vacation on one path you can do it now,” Lessman said.

Arlberg has an annual snowfall of 23 feet. The Austrian resorts include 174 miles of ski runs, 112 miles of open free-riding terrain and 94 gondolas and lifts. The ski area will be open from Dec. 6, 2013, to April 27, 2014.

Representatives from Vail and Arlberg expressed excitement about the agreement between the resorts.

“We are looking forward to a successful partnership and welcome Epic Pass holders to Austria next winter,” said Hermann Fercher, the chief executive officer of Lech-Zurs, in a press release.
