Legend has it that a tiger fleeing hunters was able to leap across the river to safety using the rock in the middle as a giant stepping stone. The Yangtze River passes between 18,360 ft Jade Dragen Snow Mountain and 17,703 ft Haba Snow Mountain under 6600 ft cliffs for nine miles in a series of rapids, making it one of the deepest canyons in the world.
