Work to replace 28-year-old hot tub at Breckenridge rec center starts in late July
Editor’s note: This story has been updated to reflect the hot tub will be closed later in July.
The outdoor hot tub at the Breckenridge Recreation Center will be closed in late July so it can be replaced with a new one.
The old hot tub is 28 years old, and it and the surrounding concrete slab will be demolished to make room for a new outdoor hot tub designed to hold 16 people, whereas the old one can hold only eight.
The new tub will be built of stainless steel, which has a longer lifespan and is easier to clean and maintain, according to town staff. The town expects construction of the outdoor tub to take six weeks. The closure is tentatively scheduled to begin on July 29.
