Locals collecting medical supplies to send to the Gulf Coast

Jan and Phyllis Updike from Breckenridge are going to Baton Rouge this Saturday to help with Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Jan is a doctor and Phyllis is a nurse. They will be in the area for eight to 10 days. Delta Airlines is permitting them to take medical supplies without a weight limit. If you have supplies in good condition, such as crutches or splints, contact Don Sather, owner of BigHorn Center in Silverthorne, who is collecting these items and will get them to the Updikes before their Saturday departure. The project is part of the Summit County Rotary Club and might be expanded in the future, as the Updikes determine what is needed for relief.Contact Sather at (970) 390-4909 or e-mail dsather@operamail.com to donate.
