Longtime Summit County local James Neary dies

James Francis Neary passed away on Wednesday after a long life with numerous medical issues.

He was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa, on March 9, 1924. He and Dorathy have been married 57 years. Jim worked 38 years for the Federal Aviation Administration based primarily at Stapleton Airport in Denver and settled in Summit County in 1982. In the past 28 years as a Summit County local he worked part-time at the Summit County Bank, was an active member of the Catholic community and an avid reader.

Jim is survived by his wife, Dorathy, two brothers Hugh and Bob, five children: Jim (Jane) and Jerry (Kelly) in Kemmerer and Casper, Wyo., and daughters Sue (Mark), Patty (Andy), and Barb (Dan) in the Denver area, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.



Services are Monday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Dillon Valley followed by a lunch reception at noon at the Elks Club. A rosary is planned Sunday at 7 p.m. at the church. Donations can be made to the Catholic Community of Summit County Building Fund or the Friends of the Library.
