Dillon Ridge Liquors has been a cornerstone of the community since 1997.

The spot secured the top award in the 2024 Best of Summit contest for Best Liquor/Beer/Wine Store and Best Nonalcoholic Beer/Wine/Liquor.

Owner Mike Smith credits his staff for helping the shop win these Best of Summit titles. He said people know when they go into Dillon Ridge Liquor that they can count on being helped by an employee who has the expertise to point them exactly to what they are looking for or open their eyes to something new.

Smith said he wanted to get on top of the nonalcoholic beverage trend the minute he noticed it started to pick up steam. He said he doesn’t think the trend is going anywhere.

“There’s a movement that’s been going on with the younger generations, people in their 20s and 30s, that have been committing themselves to not consuming alcohol,” he said.

He started doing more research on what type of nonalcoholic beer, wines and other liquors people seemed to be gravitating toward in addition to learning more about what other type of options were out there.

He looked into CBD beverages and new drinks coming on the market with adaptogens, which are herbs that can help the body manage stress, and got an understanding of why people liked them and how they worked.

Smith said research showed people found benefits to consuming commonly used adaptogens in the nonalcoholic beverage scene, such as L theanine and ashwagandha, because they can reduce cortisol, a hormone related to stress.

People can find mixers for “phony negronis,” adaptogen drinks by the popular brand Recess, nonalcoholic Tempranillo Spanish wine and more alcohol-free options at Dillon Ridge Liquors.

Dillon Ridge Liquors is located at 294 Dillon Ridge Road. It is open Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
