Lucy Kay and Mike Schilling: Thanks for all the help with Pro Cycling Challenge

Lucy Kay and Mike Schilling
Breckenridge LOC Co-Chairs

On behalf of the Breckenridge Local Organizing Committee (LOC), we’d like to thank all the volunteers, sponsors and local organizations that made Stage 5 of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge an enormous success in Summit County. From the behind-the-scenes, county-wide incident command group to the volunteers and staff present along the route and at the finish, all involved should be very proud of what was accomplished: showcasing Colorado to 161 countries around the world. Television coverage and photography of all Summit County was incredible.

We’d also like to thank the community for adapting to road closures and disruptions to normal schedules. Local media and businesses were essential in spreading the news of race-day impacts.

The USA Pro Cycling Challenge in Summit County exceeded expectations; both riders and national-level organizers were extremely appreciative and impressed. Breckenridge had the highest turnout of all the mountain town hosts, and the support from spectators was truly outstanding.

Thanks once again to the entire community and the LOC – Tim Gagen, John McMahon, Kim Dykstra-DiLallo, Jen Cawley, Vanessa Agee, Sally Croker, Cindy Hintgen, Jeff Cospolich, Thad Noll, Jeff Westcott, Rachel Zerowin, Rick Oshlo, Bob Faucett, Chris Hart, Scott Fortner, Byron Swezy, Chris Conway, Dan Lipsher, Michelle Gehr, Brian Waldes, Dave November, Greg Morrison, Rick Holman, Shannon Haynes, Jay Nelson, Sheriff John Minor, Undersheriff Derek Woodman, Mark Johnston, and Sandy Metzger.

Finally, we’d love to hear what you thought of the event. Please email your comments to

Riding bikes over Swan Mountain Road will never feel the same!
