Luxury Properties: Top-of-the-world luxury

After the spectacular spring snowfall this week, a visit to the top of the Goldenview area on the east side of Breckenridge shows a sparkling panorama. Today’s featured four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bath residence sits up on a sunny ridge looking south and west to Quandary and the Breckenridge Ski resort. Offered at $2,695,000, the home is beautifully crafted with a spectacular setting and gorgeous finishes.

The home is set well back from the road with a lovely street presence and natural landscaping. The stone patio leads up to a covered entry with double doors which open into the stone foyer. A crystal contemporary chandelier sets the modern mountain theme. To the right, a few stairs lead down to a slated mudroom with benches, cubbies, and a wall of coat closets. The attached garage here can be locked into two individual compartments should you wish to keep a private area if the home is rented. Nearby is a laundry with steel blue Frigidaire Affinity washer and dryer, antiqued black cabinetry and a utility sink. On this level is a bedroom large enough to hold two queen beds, and a slated bath with slab granite countertop and vessel sink.

Directly opposite the main door is a solarium area with a wall of glass that opens onto the first of many decks around the home. This one is covered, making it a perfect spot to linger on a rainy summer afternoon.

To the left is the main living area of the home. The dining room enjoys beam ceiling and stone detail, and is separated from the great room by a two sided stone fireplace. The kitchen features beautiful cherry cabinetry and slab granite counters in black with metallic flecks. Appliances include a Sub Zero refrigerator, Wolf microwave, Wolf range with six burners and a double oven, and Asko dishwasher. A farmhouse sink, as well as a utility sink with hot water on demand are situated in different workstations. Behind the kitchen is a pantry area, Sub Zero wine refrigerator, half bath, and sunny office with private entrance looking out to the western view.

The great room is ringed in glass windows and doors and surrounded by decks. It brings the outside in, in every season. Beautiful wood floors create a neutral palette for every decor. Two sets of French doors lead out to the wraparound deck with covered and open areas that expand the living space. An outdoor spa is shielded by a curved stone half wall but drinks in the views of the Tenmile Range.

Stairs up from the main level open into a media room with a double row of theatre couches, flat screen viewing, another stone fireplace, and a beautiful bar with blue slab granite and antiqued black cabinetry. The wet bar includes a Sub Zero refrigerator and a dishwasher, and there is a large lockable owner’s closet nearby.

There are two full bedroom suites separated by this area. The one to the right has a sumptuous bath with oversized marble steam shower and double vessel sinks. A covered deck runs the length of the room with spectacular views. The other shares a beautifully tiled bath with the gathering area.

A small corridor with a few stairs separates the wing of the home where the master suite is located. The door, flanked by stained glass panels, opens into the suite with views in every direction. A fireplace is built into the wall for a cozy winter’s night. Closet details are extraordinary with double-locked owners closets, built in drawers, and beautiful detail. The master bath features split sinks and a vanity area, as well as a rectangular jetted tub and separate shower.

Throughout the home, the emphasis is on craftsmanship, attention to detail, livability, and beauty. The free bus stops just up the road, making it easy to get into town for skiing, shopping, and dining. Nearby trails provide Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking options. With timeless design, a beautiful setting, and a unique mountain flair, this home is the perfect Summit County retreat for generations of mountain living.
