Luxury Property: Pegged timber frame at Breckenridge’s Kooroora
On this, the occasion of my 400th column in the Summit Daily News, our featured home is the pegged timber frame residence at 204 South Pine Street in Breckenridge. Just six blocks east of Main Street, the home looks down the walking path to the downtown core and faces the ski area. Just up the street is Carter Park and the Hermit Placer Trail outside the door connects to an extensive trail system. The home is offered at $2,695,000 and includes a sunny southwest-facing deck and a three-car garage, as well as the stellar views.
Two stone posts mark the drive, one with the home’s name, Kooroora, which is an Aboriginal word meaning “place of good times and peace.” Stairs up to the covered double-doorway lead directly into the great room which is built for those good times. Counters are deep gold travertine with backsplashes of beer and wine labels. A distressed arched door reveals a 4600 bottle wine cellar with walls fauxed to look like rock.
There are three additional bedrooms on this level. One is presently used as a music room, with extra deep closets which keep gear dust free. The second shares a tiled bath with the family area. The third is a second master suite with walk in closet. The bath here boasts barn red cabinets and a red and gold travertine slab countertop with double sinks. A soaking tub and shower with glass Euro doors completes the suite.
