MADD honors local officers

DENVER – The Denver chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) awarded Silverthorne Police officer Britt Dinsmore and Summit County Sheriff’s deputy Thomas Hanley for their efforts in arresting drunken drivers.

Both were selected by MADD as two of the top law enforcement professionals fighting against drunk driving.

Officers receiving this award are recognized because of their dedication to excelling in DUI arrests and their efforts in alcohol education.

Dinsmore instructs other officers in DUI recognition and teaches DARE classes at Silverthorne Elementary. He arrested 48 drunk or impaired drivers in 2001.

In addition to making many DUI arrests in 2001, Hanley has participated in the multi-agency saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints.

This year, 33 officers statewide were honored.
