Magnesium chloride causes extra work and thousands of dollars in repairs

Jay Riley, Basalt

I have been reading your Summit Daily News articles on magnesium chloride in the Aspen Times. They are very insightful and seem unbiased. I am personally involved with mag chloride as maintenance supervisor of Myers & Co. in Basalt.I personally disdain the stuff for all the extra work my department has to do because of the corrosive nature of mag chloride. It eats up electrical wiring, brake pads, ruins the finish on the vehicles, then you have to work on them and get it all over yourself, which is probably not good.It costs my company thousands of dollars yearly. Keep up the good work and good luck. Thank you.
