Make sure your smoking facts are right

I would like to point out a major problem with the smoking-ban issue – the health of the employees.I’m not saying this is unimportant, just that it is unproved that their health is in jeopardy. Also, if it is so important, why is there a condition in the ban that allows the employee break rooms to be smoking areas (as reported in the Summit Daily News).Everyone keeps mentioning the health issue. No one, however, has pointed out that the main study that smoking ban proponents refer to (the EPA study) has some big flaws.First of all, it was a meta-analysis – which means that it was a study of other studies, not a scientific study in and of itself. Secondly, this study was thrown out by both a scientific review committee as well as a federal court for being unsound. The statistical significance was so low as to require all of it’s findings to be unusable. Please make sure to find out all the facts about a subject before you blindly follow the majority.Once you know the relevant facts, you can make you’re own, educated decision – whatever that may be.
