BRECKENRIDGE ” A 57-year-old Colorado man was pronounced dead at the Breckenridge Medical Center Wednesday afternoon after a ski incident on the intermediate trail, Claimjumper, on Breckenridge’s Peak 8, according to a release from the resort.

Breckenridge Ski Patrol was notified of the incident at about 2:20 p.m.

Ski patrol provided life support and transported the patient to an awaiting ambulance.

He was taken to the Breckenridge Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The male skier was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

Summit County deputy coroner Mike Schmitt said it appeared as though the man lost control while skiing and went into the trees.

A cause of death has not yet been determined, Schmitt said.

A 43-year-old Air Force major from Monument died Feb. 15 after hitting a tree on Breckenridge’s Peak 8, and a 28-year-old Illinois man died the following week at Swedish Medical Center in Denver after colliding with a tree on Breckenridge’s Four O’ Clock run.
