Man found not guilty of sex assault attacked

Daily News staff report

BRECKENRIDGE – A Breckenridge man found not guilty of sexual assault by a jury Friday was attacked later that night. Police are investigating but doubt there is a connection between the trial outcome and the attack.

A Breckenridge police officer was on routine patrol on Airport Road about 2:30 a.m. Saturday when he was approached by 28-year-old Ira James Largent. According to a police department report, Largent was bleeding from the mouth. Largent and two other men said they were riding their bikes when they were jumped by nine men driving two Honda Accords.

The officer later stopped one vehicle matching the description given by Largent and his friends. The victims identified Casey Ferris, Brenton Presley, Jesse Kahookele and William Musgrove as taking part in the alleged assault.

The officer cited Ferris for second-degree assault, and the other three received citations for disorderly conduct. The case is still under investigation, the police report said.
