Man killed, another injured in car wreck

BLUE RIVER – A man was killed and his uncle seriously injured in a car wreck on Hoosier Pass late Wednesday night.Coroner Joanne Richardson said the man who died was Jesus Manuel Parra Armendariz, originally from Mexico and temporarily living in Dillon Valley. Armendariz’s uncle, who was not identified, was taken to Summit Medical Center, then to St. Anthony Hospital in Denver.Although full reports were not available Thursday, it appeared the two were northbound near the first switchback on Hoosier Pass when their car drifted onto the shoulder, rolled about 20 feet down the embankment and came to rest against a tree.Colorado State Patrol Capt. Ron Prater said Thursday that alcohol was involved in the crash, which occurred near mile 79 on Highway 9. Prater said felony charges would be filed in the death.
