Man kills himself near Heeney

DAILY NEWS STAFF REPORT

HEENEY – A 77-year-old Pueblo hunter with health problems apparently shot and killed himself outside a camper north of Heeney Thursday morning, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s office.Because of the remote location where cell phone coverage is severely limited, no more information was available about the man on Thursday.The Pueblo man had been feeling ill and decided not to accompany his friends when they went hunting, according to the Sheriff’s report. His wife and friends found him upon their return later that morning.The man’s name was not released because of the nature of his death.
