Man points rifle out window, forces lock down on Main Street

GRAND JUNCTION – A man pointing a rifle out a second story window sparked fears there was a sniper on the loose, forcing police to lock down busy restaurants on Main Street Thursday while they contacted the man by phone and he surrendered peacefully, authorities said.No shots were fired and no one was injured, Grand Junction police spokeswoman Linda Bowman said.”It doesn’t appear he had any intent to commit a crime,” Bowman said.The incident happened about 7:30 p.m. and ended a half hour later.It was unclear whether the man, who was not identified, would face charges.
