Man sentenced or shooting at officer, deputy

COLORADO SPRINGS ” A Colorado Springs man is being ordered to spend 55 years in prison for shooting at law enforcement officers during a 2005 pursuit.

Twenty-four-year-old John Thomas Saindon had previously pleaded guilty to two felony assault charges and a charge of felony menacing. He later tried to withdraw the pleas, but a district judge refused.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Thompson says Saindon fired a shotgun at him and a police officer at least 13 times during and after the chase. Thompson says that once, the suspect’s car stopped, and Saindon fired the shotgun at him three times through the sun roof.

A co-defendant, 21-year-old Brandon Jones, pleaded guilty last year to felony assault on a police officer.
