Many contributed to a good ‘Celebration’

Julie Tierneyboard memberDwight Brill "Celebration of Life" Memorial Fund

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Dwight Brill “Celebration of Life” Memorial Fund, I would like to thank the community, our sponsors and the employees of Breckenridge Ski Resort for helping our small nonprofit raise more than $11,400 during our annual fundraiser, which took place Feb. 11.Specifically, I’d like to thank Breckenridge Ski Resort and chief operating officer Roger McCarthy, the Bergenhof restaurant staff, The Summit Foundation, the Summit Daily News, Domecq Importers, National Distributing, Breckenridge Brewery, Coors Brewing Company, Southern Wine and Spirits and the Studio Frame Shop. In addition, I would like to thank fellow community members and employees for attending the fundraiser and helping to contribute to a very worthwhile cause. Finally, many thanks to those individuals and business owners and managers who donated many enticing silent auction items, helping us to surpass our financial goal. This year’s event was a huge success with more than 200 people attending a Mexican Fiesta at the Bergenhof Restaurant at Peak 8.The money raised during the annual fundraising dinner will be combined with donations received throughout the year to provide financial support and other services to Breckenridge Ski Resort employees faced with a crisis. Each year, a portion of the funds raised through the Dwight Brill “Celebration of Life” Memorial Fund help support an employee holiday food drive. The food drive helps ski resort employees make it through a very difficult time of the year. In addition, allocations are awarded to employees based upon applications for funding received and evaluated by the board of directors. More than $50,000 has been raised in the first five years of the program and more than $41,000 has been awarded to employees in need. The Dwight Brill “Celebration of Life” Memorial Fund is a nonprofit, self-funded entity operating under the guidance of The Summit Foundation.
