March Cafe Scientifique looks into stem cell research
Stem Cells in Clinical Medicine is the topic of the informative talk and discussion for the March Café Scientifique, which will take place at the Summit County Community and Senior Center near Frisco on March 27, from 7-8:30 p.m.The presenter will be Hannis Thompson, M.D., Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.The use of embryonic stem cells in research is currently a controversial topic in the United States. This discussion will explore some of the current controversies surrounding the use of stem cells in research and the applications in clinical medicine. Topics to be addressed include: What are the potential sources of “stem cells” and are there any current clinical uses for these cells? What are the perceived benefits of embryonic stem cells?
