March is Red Cross month


This week, the Summit County Board of County Commissioners declared March as Red Cross Month in Summit County. The Red Cross handles everything from disaster response and preparedness education to life-saving classes.Summit County’s Red Cross Egon Gerson Service Center relies on donations and grants and is not a government agency. Locally, 79 cents of every dollar is spent on programs and services offered by the Red Cross, including health and safety courses, disaster response and planning and international and social services such as support for the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. More than 100 volunteers supported the Egon Gerson Service Center in providing health and safety and disaster services to over 2,000 people last year.Colorado Gov.
