Margaret Bowes: Yes on 3B

Please consider voting yes on the local ballot issue 3B. The voter approved 2007 mill levy is due to sunset, and the school district is asking to retain a small amount of that mill levy. If 3B passes, our 2011 property taxes will still go down from current levels. Successful passage of 3B would mean the school district would retain one third of what you are currently paying towards that mill levy. That is a small price to pay for good schools and well-educated kids. The school cut approximately $1.4 million from this year’s budget and was fortunately able to do that without increasing the teacher/student ratio. If 3B fails there is no question severe cuts will occur. Passing 3B is the best way to assure that our schools remain strong and continue to improve. 3B is a rational alternative to move through the current funding downturn with a minimum impact on all residents. Please support our schools and our kids – vote yes on 3B.
