Editor’s note: The headline of this story has been updated with the correct location of Meadow Creek Pond.

Meadow Creek Pond, which is located behind the Walmart on Summit Boulevard in Frisco, is now open for free public ice skating from dawn until 10 p.m. daily.

The pond will be lit at night, and guests are asked to bring their own ice skates. Ice fishing is not permitted at Meadow Creek Pond as the auger holes would create unsafe skating conditions.

The Frisco Public Works Department will make sure the pond is cleared of snow in order to maintain the ice surface, but even with maintenance, natural ice conditions should be expected. The ice is up to 9 inches thick in some places, but all skaters are advised to skate on the pond at their own risk.
