Michael Millisor: 3B: Don’t say no to helping children

Michael Millisor

I support Issue 3B. My business partners and I have been involved in the campaign to pass 3B. I could list once again all the reasons to vote for this issue that ensures our schools will have the funding they need to provide the quality education our children need; I could state once again that there is no reason not to vote for 3B. I could remind people of how little it will cost it if you are a homeowner or that it will cost you nothing if you don’t own a home. But those facts are out there and you can all look at them for yourself. This letter is simply an emotional appeal for something that is very important to me personally, because it is so critical for the community I live in and care about.

I have lived in Breckenridge for more than 27 years, and have raised my sons, who are now in high school, in this town. Naturally, I am concerned about our schools for their sakes. But it goes deeper than that. I was deeply affected by my grandfather who, having been shaped by the Depression era, was very conservative about where his money went. I have never forgot the day Papaw looked me in the eye and said: “There is one thing you never say ‘no’ to. You never say ‘no’ to helping children.”

I never have said ‘no’ to the children of our community and I never will. The youth are too important to everything we claim to value in this country, and on every level you can think of, we cannot afford to let them down. Please join me in guaranteeing the quality of our community by casting your vote in favor of Issue 3B.
