Minor cited in last week’s Highway 9 crash

BRECKENRIDGE – The Colorado State Patrol said Friday the driver of one of the two cars involved in an Aug. 27 crash on Highway 9 was cited for failure to yield.CSP Capt. Ron Prater said the 17-year-old Breckenridge female, driving a 1999 Chevy Prism was attempting to turn southbound on Highway 9 at Fairview Boulevard, just north of Breckenridge. The Prism hit the right rear corner of a northbound Mitsubishi Montero driven by Alexander Robb, of Blue River. The Montero spun and rolled, ending up on its roof some 50 yards from the intersection.The accident stopped traffic on Highway 9 for some time as the accident occurred during the afternoon rush hour and emergency responders scrambled to clear broken glass and debris from the road.Prater said there were four occupants in the Montero, two of which suffered “evident and incapacitating injuries,” but Prater could not provide more information on the victims or the injuries. All occupants were wearing their seat belts, he said.
