Monday is deadline for voters to register for Nov. 5 election

SUMMIT COUNTY – Those who want to vote in the Nov. 5 election have until Monday to register or update their voter registration.

“We just mailed out voter information postcards,” said Summit County Elections Administrator Vicky Stecklein.

Summit County residents should receive their postcards by the weekend, if not sooner. Anyone who does not receive a postcard should contact the Summit County Clerk and Recorder’s office to determine whether he or she needs to register or simply update information, Stecklein said.

Voter registration and address change forms and applications to request absentee ballots are available at the Summit County Courthouse in Breckenridge and at any of the town halls.

It is possible to download voter registration forms from the Web, but Stecklein said it is not possible to register online, as an original signature is required.

All voter registration or registration update information must be completed by Monday, Oct. 7. Voters can submit those forms in person at the Summit County Courthouse, or send them by mail to the courthouse at 208 East Lincoln, Breckenridge. It is important to note, however, registrations must be postmarked by Oct. 7 and post offices in Summit County no longer postmark envelopes – they are now postmarked in Denver. Those completing their registrations on Monday should submit their registrations in person, unless they can get them postmarked with Monday’s date.

For more information, contact the Summit County Clerk and Recorder’s office at (970) 453-3479.
