More Fort Carson soldiers to deploy

FORT CARSON – More than 180 Fort Carson soldiers were scheduled to begin deploying to the Middle East next week, Army officials said Thursday.The members of the 360th Transportation Company were expected to leave Colorado Springs on Tuesday. It will be the unit’s second trip to the Middle East since the war in Iraq began.The unit’s primary responsibility is to provide bulk petroleum transportation support to other units.Fort Carson sent 12,000 troops to Iraq last year in the Army post’s largest deployment since World War II. Since then the post has lost more than 40 soldiers, and more than 500 have been wounded.
