More liberal paranoia about God

Robert CooperBreckenridge

As can almost always be expected, paranoid liberals react with utter disbelief whenever someone, usually a conservative, supposedly mentions God and the Constitution in the same sentence.Horror of horrors. But, as usual, the liberals who are shocked by this almost always take what was said out of context, or fail to actually research what was said or proposed, as did letter writer Rob Ferguson on April 18.Rob, get a grip dude. Seriously. This bill has nothing to do with replacing the words “We the People” in the Constitution with the word “God.”What it does aim to do is rein in usually liberal, but also if necessary, conservative federal judges from imposing their views on issues that are not within their jurisdiction. It just means that lawsuits brought against any government officials, agencies or municipalities for acknowledging God are not within the jurisdiction of federal judges, who use the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights that says, “Congress shall establish no religion or prohibit free exercise thereof,” as an excuse to make it a federal issue. The key word, kids, is Congress. So any federal, state or municipal employee, by mentioning God, does not change or threaten the first amendment of the Constitution. To make it a federal case, i.e. within the jurisdiction of federal judges, Congress would have to initialize this change.Otherwise, it’s out of bounds to the federal judiciary. What these legislators are proposing is that the federal courts actually obey the Constitution, not trample upon it to further their leftist agenda. Is this too difficult for liberals to understand?
