More seat belt laws: Not another way to protect me from myself

I was very disappointed to read the Gary Lindstrom column Feb. 7 pushing for more stringent seat belt laws. I have no objections with the wearing of seat belts. I do however have problems with the government doing more to protect ourselves from ourselves. Not wearing a seat belt is foolish or foolhardy. These are not traits that we need our government controlling.Seat belt laws for children make sense. Plenty of parents need stronger guidelines in the raising of their children. Once we make it to adults we should be able to decide whether we want to wear a seat belt. There is not enough danger of us flying out our windshield and killing an innocent bystander to warrant another intrusive law. Mr Lindstrom, as my representative, I would highly appreciate your opposition to any laws designed to protect me from myself.
