Mount Evans Scenic Byway is open to the public for the 2022 season as of last Friday.
The Colorado Department of Transportation sent crews along the highway in May and June to clear snow along the 15-mile highway. From Echo Lake Lodge to the summit at over 14,000 feet, crews cleared snow from the highest paved road in North America.
The U.S. Forest Service requires motorists and guests to make reservations if they are planning to park and visit a visitor location from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Reservations are not required for people who are biking or hiking up the roadway. Reservations can be made at Recreation.gov.
