Music That Heightens Different Senses combine the fury of punk and the street-wise soul of hip-hop and funk with an over-the-top bombastic roots party groove. The band’s Facebook page says their music is “like the Partridge Family if the Mom was Lauryn Hill and the kids were Jimi Hendrix, Common, Peter Tosh, Sid Vicious and Q-tip.” Doors open at 4 p.m., and the music starts at 9:30. Rob Drabkin will play a free show tonight as part of the Copper Mountain summer concert series. “I’m pretty sure no other performer at the festival had more hair on his head than Rob Drabkin. The afro-headed acoustic guitar player cuts a memorable image to people who see him perform for the first time. He busted out his trademark flip-flop rock tunes to an adoring crowd. In fact, after the third song, Rob and his band were pulling in inquisitive newbies like a moth to a flame,” wrote Westword Magazine in its Mile High Music Festival review of Drabkin. Nederland favorites come to Breck

Mountain Standard Time will grace the stage at three20south tonight. Hailing from Nederland, Mountain Standard Time creates its own brand of nontraditional bluegrass, much like fellow Coloradans Yonder Mountain String Band did before it. Combining a leading mix of acoustic guitar and mandolin, along with keyboards, electric bass, drums and electronic effects, MST creates a unique sound that has been turning heads and exciting ears all throughout the country for almost five years. The HomeSlice Band will play the Dillon Amphitheatre on Saturday as part of the town of Dillon’s Sunset at the Summit concert series. HomeSlice Band is a nine-piece vocal and horn musical powerhouse group based in Denver. The town of Frisco will feature music by The Trishas as part of its free Concerts in the Park series Thursday. The four principal members of Austin’s The Trishas would have you believe that they’re not blood related. But a DNA test might be in order. True, their individual bios may support their claims of having all had separate lives before meeting one another, but to hear them sing together, you would swear they were harmonizing from the womb. Their comfort level with one another is obvious; they laugh frequently and easily together, and even on tiny stages, they smoothly switch among a variety of stringed and percussion instruments, including drums.
