Music Scene: Jaden Carlson Band CD release party in Frisco

The Snake River Saloon in Keystone is offering Free Friday Music on June 13, with The Kenny Perkins band, a new rock and dance group out of the Front Range. Born in Texas, where he met guitar legends such as SRV and Eric Johnson, Kenny Perkins attended art school in Denver and played the music circuit with various bands, including a stint as lead guitarist for Gary Morris. He won the Colorado Composers Classic two years in a row and now fronts a three-piece power trio playing throughout Colorado and the west. Doors open at 4 p.m., and the music starts at 9:30. The Colorado BBQ Challenge on Main Street in Frisco will feature free live music on Saturday, June 14, from Beau Thomas from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Charlie Hunter from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Rebirth Brass Band from 1:45 to 3:15 p.m. and Bonerama from 4 to 6:30 p.m. All concerts take place on the music stage at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Main Street in Frisco. The Pine Beatles will get the party started before the annual Kingdom Days Outhouse Races in Breckenridge on Sunday, June 15, in front of the Blue River Plaza on Main Street. Rusted Root performs first free Vail concert

The Bud Light Hot Summer Nights concert series at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail will kick off on Tuesday, June 17, with Rusted Root. With eight albums under their belt, more than 3 million records sold worldwide and countless nights on the road, Rusted Root transcends age, generations, cultures and musical styles. Their music has been featured in films such as “Ice Age,” “Twister” and “Matilda,” TV shows like “New Girl,” “Ally McBeal,” “Charmed” and “Chuck.” Hot Summer Nights shows are free to the public, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and happy hour with food and drink specials until the start of the concert at 6:30. After Jack will play a free show at The Barkley Ballroom in Frisco on Wednesday, June 18. After Jack is a musical celebration of togetherness. Named 2014 Americana Vocal Group of the Year by the Appalachian Cultural Music Association, the trio couples a modern sensibility with distinctly old-time energy to blend bluegrass, gospel and folk elements. Combine your most beloved musical memories with a foot-stomping string band and top it off with harmonies that spring straight from the soul of the mountains, and you’ve got After Jack. The Next Page bookstore in Frisco continues its new weekly music and happy hour on Wednesday, June 18, with music from Jobuk Johnson. Singer and guitarist Johnson draws on traditional styles of country and jazz guitar from the ’30s, ’40s and ’50s. He synthesizes them into a virtuoso style in which bass, chords and melody are played simultaneously. Johnson calls his style “Jackalope Jazz.” The music runs from 4 to 7 p.m. Visit for more information.
