Nancy Morey: An important film
Silverthorne
For anyone concerned about (or even remotely interested in) the effects of too much screen time on our young people today, please make plans to attend one of two showings of the featured film at this year’s Colorado Environmental Film Festival, “Play Again” at the American Mountaineering Center’s Foss Auditorium in Golden Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. or Nov. 6 at 1:30 p.m.
For ticket information, and to see a preview, go to http://www.coloradoenvironmentalfilmfestival.com.
Since its premiere May 15 in Portland, Ore., this very relevant film has already won awards at international viewings in both Prague and Barcelona. On Oct. 6, there was an excellent article in the Summit Daily entitled “The Science of Getting Kids Outdoors” written by Dave Miller of the Keystone Science School, and the film “Play Again” is a gem in the ever-widening archive of educational information on this subject matter. It is a film that has long needed making. Please attend, if you can, and support this important film produced by Meg Merrill of Ground Productions.

Summit Daily is embarking on a multiyear project to digitize its archives going back to 1989 and make them available to the public in partnership with the Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection. The full project is expected to cost about $165,000. All donations made in 2023 will go directly toward this project.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference.
