On Saturday, Jan. 25, the Breckenridge-based National Repertory Orchestra will present “An Elegant Evening” with a special performance by mezzo-soprano Jennifer DeDominci, guest vocalist for the NRO’s 2012 “Topilow Pops,” 2013 “Hollywood Classics” and 2013 Night Before the Oscars. It will be an elegant evening of music, art, mingling, hors d’oeuvres wine and dessert.
DeDominci was a huge hit for the past several summers when she performed with the National Repertory Orchestra to sellout crowds at the Breckenridge Riverwalk Center and is returning to Breckenridge for a very intimate evening concert. DeDominci will be performing a mix of musical styles from classical pieces to the music of Hollywood and Broadway, including favorites from “The Sound of Music,” “Les Misérables” and more.
Some of DeDominci’s other operatic roles have included Siebel in “Faust,” Rosina in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia,” Hänsel in “Hänsel und Gretel” and Mrs. Jones in “Street Scene.” Additional musical theater roles have included Petra in “A Little Night Music,” Claudia in “Nine,” Angelina in “The Second Tosca” and Signora Fioria in “Do I Hear A Waltz?” She has been a soloist in Mendelssohn’s “Elijah,” Handel’s “Messiah,” Bach’s “Magnificat,” and in concerts with the Cleveland Pops, the Colorado Symphony, the Colorado Springs Philharmonic and the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs. She is a first-place winner of the Denver Lyric Opera Guild Auditions, a NATS Singer of the Year and a four-time Regional Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
DeDominci will be accompanied by pianist Deborah Schmit-Lobis, who is a composer, arranger and recording artist and has performed with major arts organizations such as The Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Colorado Ballet, Central City Opera, Colorado Children’s Chorale, Denver center Theater and the David Taylor Dance Theater.
Seating for “An Elegant Evening” is very limited, and admission includes hors d’oeuvres, wine and appetizers. To purchase tickets, call the National Repertory Orchestra office at (970) 453-5825 or visit http://www.nromusic.com.
