Ned Esber: This is the mountains, expect snow on the sidewalks

Regarding snow removal in Breck, or alleged lack thereof, our streets and parks department works hard day and night to clear off the streets for countless strangers. What would you do if someone handed you a shovel and told you to get all the sand out of Dubai? You would probably upset locals by countering their sand-dance efforts. Google told me that the distant cousin of Ullr, Psamathe, the god of beaches and sand, would agree. Average civilians seem to think that every place should be as safe as Iowa, but mountainfolk have a synonym for “safe” that we prefer: boring. You are in the mountains by choice, and believe it or not, there are dangerous parts of this world. So please, for the sake of self-preservation, take off the stilettos, walk carefully, and say thanks to our streets and parks crew for their effort.
