Neuroscientists extend thanks for great conference

Karen F. Greif, Ph.D.WCBR outreach program coordinator

On behalf of the more than 500 neuroscientists who attended the 38th annual Winter Conference on Brain Research (WCBR) held at Breckenridge in January, I would like to express my appreciation to the teachers and students of the Summit County schools and to the larger community. In particular, I thank Mrs. Mary Gervais, a biology teacher at Summit Middle School, for her efforts in helping coordinate the town meeting that attracted over 200 community members to hear a talk of healthy foods and our school outreach program. Thirteen neuroscientists visited elementary, middle and high school classes to teach neurology to students. Much appreciation goes to these very attentive and inquisitive students, some of whom we hope will pursue careers in neuroscience. The conference likely will return to Summit County in 2009, and we look forward to interacting with your wonderful community again.Lastly, thanks for the glorious weather and warm welcome.
