New board game shop in Silverthorne includes game room, events for local hobbyists
Phil Lataille grew up in a game-obsessed household, with his brothers getting into Pokemon console games before they even made their way to the United States.
He said he still remembers the day one of his brother’s brought home Settlers of Catan for the first time and how it spurred his fascination with board games.
Lataille’s love for games stuck with him into adulthood and he went on to open his own game store in Eagle, Hidden Table Games, in October 2023. The gamble of opening a store focusing solely on games paid off. He said the shop was able to create a strong community of game-lovers in Eagle, and he wanted to bring that concept to his home base in Summit.
Just over a year after opening the Eagle location, Lataille officially opened a Hidden Table Games location in Silverthorne on Nov. 1.
The retail part of the store features hundreds of board games, crafts and toys.
What makes the spot different from most game retailers is its game room. The game room costs $5 and is an open-play model. It fits around 50 people and houses around 100 games. The shop has events in the game room numerous times a week and even hosts tournaments for specific games.
Hidden Table Games is located at 246 Rainbow Drive. It is open every day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will occasionally have events after 7 p.m.
