New group forms to address issues facing Summit

SILVERTHORNE – Howard Hallman, Beverly Breakstone and Don Parsons believe Summit County is a great place to be – and they want to make it even better.Their mission is to form a new group called Our Future Summit.The trio is scheduled to hold a first meeting from 7 to 9 tonight at the North Branch of the Summit County Library in Silverthorne.”One goal is to use the knowledge we gain to better educate our decision makers regarding the diversity and consensus of community opinion,” Hallman said. “We hope to provide a voice for a wide variety of ordinary citizens whose voices may not otherwise be heard. We intend to be make a difference.”Ideas the group might address could include transportation, child care, immigration, public lands use and affordable housing.One idea Hallman wants to present is that of bringing all the towns in the county into the Town and County of Summit – an idea Rep. Gary Lindstrom of Lakeview Meadows has been supporting for years.
