New Pathway and Trail Improvements

The Open Space and Trails Department coordinated the following improvements in Summit County in the past year:-A newly constructed bikepath bridge over the Blue River between Farmer’s Korner and Breckenridge, south of the Gold Hill trailhead. -A reconstructed section of bikepath to access the new Blue River bridge and provide a safer and more enjoyable experience for bikepath users.-New bikepath segments at the County Commons, south of Frisco near Highway 9. These segments provide bicycle access to the new Community/Senior Center and County Commons Building/Main Library, while also completing an important section of Dillon Reservoir bikepath circuit. -A new bikepath segment from the Lake Ridge Townhouses in Summit Cove to the Snake River water treatment facility. This segment improves bicycle access from Summit Cove to the Dillon/Keystone bikepath.-A new bridge for the Colorado Trail at the Villas at Swan’s Nest provides a safe and sustainable crossing of a side channel of the Swan River.-Improvements to the Oro Grande Trail across the County Landfill property, including a single-track connection to Highway 6. Update on Swan Mountain BikepathAfter many years of analysis, the U.S. Forest Service approved an alignment for the Swan Mountain bikepath across National Forest lands in January. This bikepath will complete the loop around Dillon Reservoir, connecting Farmer’s Korner with the Snake River Inlet. Summit County Government has started work to identify potential funding sources for this multi-million dollar project. While actual construction is still several years away, the behind-the-scenes planning is well underway
