Here’s what to do on New Year’s Eve in Summit County

From classic fireworks to unique mountain town events, Summit County has a docket full of celebrations to ring in the new year with activities for every age. 

Whether you’re looking for a cozy moonlit dinner or a show outside on the slopes, all four of Summit’s ski resorts are hosting New Year’s Eve happenings and there’s celebrations happening across the county.

Breckenridge

Fireworks at Peak 9



For the first time in over five years, the town of Breckenridge will be bringing back fireworks.

“The Town of Breckenridge is thrilled to be offering New Year’s Eve fireworks this year!,” Mayor Kelly Owens said via a provided statement. “We believe this will be a fantastic addition to the already vibrant celebrations happening around town.”



The fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. and should last around 15 minutes. According to town representatives, they can be viewed from the following locations: Blue River Plaza, North Gondola Parking Lot, the base of Peaks 7-9, Main St. Station, Ridge Street and Boreas Pass or Baldy Road.

Parade at Breckenridge Ski Resort

Breckenridge Ski Resort will be kicking off its New Year’s Eve festivities with the Glow Warm Parade, featuring a glow stick parade on the Camelback Platter trail for kids at 4:30 p.m. Interested families should check in at the Beaver Run Children’s Ski School location no later than 3:45 p.m.

The resort’s Torchlight Parade on Peak 9 put on by the ski and ride school starts at 6 p.m. and is set to light up the mountain.

“We’re looking forward to providing a festive and free way to celebrate the holiday season,” spokesperson Sarah McClear said. “Folks that want to spectate the torchlight parade should head to the base of Peak 9 near Beaver Run of the Maggie.”

Disco skate

The Stephen C. West Ice Arena will be hosting a disco skate for New Year’s Eve. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and attendees can skate under the lights of the disco ball, play games and win prizes. Students can get free rentals with presenting a student ID.

Silverthorne

New Year’s Eve at Bluebird Market

The Bluebird Market will be throwing a party Dec. 31 starting off with a live performance from DJ Sunny Side Up at 8 p.m. Upslope Brewing’s Chad Piper said his spot will be offering drink deals, like $5 beers, until around 12:30 p.m. and will have other libations as well. Some of the market’s food spots will stay open later than usual and there will be a toast to ring in 2025 as well.

Frisco/Copper

New Year’s Eve at Copper Mountain

Copper Mountain will have DJ Landry onsite in Center Village from 5 to 10 p.m. for its New Year’s Eve festivities and will also have the Denver Dolls, a World War II era-inspired performance trio, performing at Sawmill from 7 to 8:45 p.m.

The resort will host its torchlight parade from 6 to 6:15 p.m. in Center Village going down the Main Vein before its fireworks show at 10 p.m. For more information visit CopperColorado.com/events-activities/events-calendar/new-years-eve-2024.

The Motet at 10 Mile Music Hall

The Motet, a six-piece band, will be performing at Frisco’s 10 Mile Music Hall. The band is known for their soul, jazz, funk and rock inspired band have headlined at Red Rocks. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets and more information can be found at 10MileMusic.com/show/the-motet-new-years-eve/.

Keystone

Keystone Ski Resort happenings

The opener of Keystone Ski Resort’s festivities is night skiing and riding out of the River Run base area from 4-7 p.m. At 7 p.m., the resort will host its annual fireworks display over Dercum Mountain and the River Run Village. At the same time, Ski and Ride School will ski down Dercum’s Dash in formation with glow sticks to light up the night. 

Warren Station happenings

Festivities at Warren Station in River Run Village will run from 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. and will have a 1980’s neon theme. DJ Drake and Colorado-based 80’s covered band, The Goonies, will be providing music for the event. VIP tickets packages are available and include exclusive seating. Moonlight dinner

Arapahoe Basin Ski Area will be hosting its New Year’s Eve Moonlight Dinner at Black Mountain Lodge from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. with musical guests Hazel Miller & The Collective.

People can get to the event by riding the Black Mountain Express chairlift, snowshoing or skinning under the stars to the mid-mountain lodge.

Live music begins at 8:30 p.m., followed by a chef-prepared buffet-style feast. New Year’s Eve will be celebrated at 10 p.m., midnight on the East Coast, and the night will continue with music through 11p.m.
