Nick Shifflet benefit on Thursday

A benefit for former Summit County resident Nick Shifflet will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Old Chicago in Silverthorne. Shifflet was diagnosed in February with a primitive neuroectodermal tumor and since then has had to leave his life in Summit County to receive treatment in Colorado Springs.

In fighting his cancer, he has lost his job, his home, his two vehicles and his dog, Bernie. His medical expenses continue to grow, and the road to recovery has been a physical and financial strain with numerous chemotherapy treatments and hospital stays.

The fundraiser will feature silent and live auctions. Look for flyers around Summit County and bring one in that night, and Old Chicago will donate 10 percent of your bill to the fund as well. If you are unable to attend the fundraiser, donations can be made at any Wells Fargo location to the “Nick Shifflet donation fund.”
