No place else for a grocery store

Suzanne Lanuza, Silverthorne

No place else in the town limits of Silverthorne can accommodate a 21st-century grocery store than the Smith Ranch.

To those who insist that there is a place other than the 11-acre parcel on Highway 9, let me ask you this: What would you choose to bulldoze in order to place a grocery store somewhere else?

Who would you choose put out of business? How many jobs would be lost?

Our town would be filled with acrimony if we were to usurp the locations proposed by the opposition.

The legal costs alone would be staggering. There is no guarantee that Safeway or any other national grocery chain would consider another location than the parcel proposed.

The proposed location along Highway 9 is ideal as it would provide high visibility and convenience for the residents of Silverthorne.

It is centrally located in the middle of our town. This parcel of land utilizes only 15 percent of the existing Smith Ranch.

This is a good plan for Silverthorne. This is a good plan for the people. Vote yes Dec. 9.
