No school Monday

Daily News staff report

SUMMIT COUNTY – Summit School District administrators are reminding parents that school will not be in session for students on Monday, Jan. 12.

Last September, the school board voted to replace the four originally scheduled half-days with two full days off from school for students during the 2003-04 school year to allow teachers to attend district-sponsored professional development training.

All previously scheduled half-days have been canceled; school will be in session for full days on Tuesday, Jan. 13, Tuesday, Feb. 17 and Tuesday, Apr. 27.

On Monday, teachers will continue their training in Step-Up to Writing, a structured model for teaching writing, in keeping with the school district’s goal to improve students’ writing skills.
