The aurora borealis put on a show in Summit County and across the country starting on May 10 due to a rare geomagnetic storm. On Thursday, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration issued a severe G4 geomagnetic storm watch, the first in nearly 20 years. According to the organization, at least five earth-directed coronal mass ejections were observed and expected to arrive as early as early Friday afternoon, May 10, and persist until Sunday, May 12.
