NRO offers free night of music


SILVERTHORNE – The National Repertory Orchestra (NRO) presents a free evening of chamber music at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Silverthorne pavilion.

The concert features the Summit Brass performing “Canzona Bergamasca” by Samuel Scheidt, “Sonata” from “Die Bankelsangerlieder,” “Galliard Battaglia” by Samuel Scheidt, “Quintet” by Malcolm Arnold and “That’s a Plenty” arranged by Lew Pollock.

The NRO woodwind quintet will perform “Partita for Winds” by Irving Fine, and a woodwind duo will perform “Bachianas Brasileiras No. 6” by Hector Villa-Lobos.

The concert is the first in a series of chamber music concerts throughout the summer in the Silverthorne pavilion. Additional concert dates are July 18 and Aug. 1. The town of Silverthorne makes the concert possible through a grant.
