President Barack Obama arrived at Buckley Air Force Base aboard Air Force One this afternoon, touching down at about 2:45 p.m.

He was greeted on the tarmac by Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, Sen. Michael Bennet, and Col. Clint Crosier, Commander of the 460th Space Wing at Buckley.

After walking into a hangar, Obama shook hands with a few other military members and greeted a crowd of about 20 civilians.

The President is in town to raise money for Bennet and Democrats before flying off to fundraisers in Nevada.

The presidential motorcade will travel from Buckley to the Fillmore auditorium in Denver where Obama will appear at what the Bennet campaign has dubbed a “grassroots rally.”

Afterward, Obama will appear at cocktail reception and fund-raiser at the Denver Sheraton.

Aboard Air Force One en route to Colorado this afternoon, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs was asked how the White House sees the political landscape here and in Nevada.

“Look, I think the political landscape, not just in these two states but throughout the country, continues to be dominated by concern about the economy – not surprisingly,” Gibbs said.

He said Obama’s remarks today will be about ways in which he hopes Republicans and Democrats can work together on issues like the economy, on deficit reduction, on health care.
